Adult Faith Formation

"To become once again a Church driven by evangelical momentum and audacity, we must again become faithful and evangelized disciples." - Pope Francis
In a meeting with Roman clergy on September 16, 2013, Pope Francis challenged the priests in their ministry to lead people into discipleship. The Holy Father's message is not only for priests; it is the call of all the baptized faithful to be evangelized and to evangelize others.
Continuing to seek knowledge of God and His Church is not reserved for priests and religious sisters, “Sunday school teachers,” or others who serve the Church in their parishes in various capacities. Learning and growing in the faith is for everyone!

Formation in the faith is a lifelong pursuit, both the duty and the joy of the Christian life. This formation begins in the family and is taken up in our parishes and Catholic schools. For many of us faith formation ends all too often in our late teens or young adulthood.

St. Monica Catholic Church offers resources and opportunities for anyone who wants to learn more about God, the Church, and the Mystery of Faith. No prerequisites, no special knowledge – just a desire to learn!

Religious periodicals and pamphlets
Available in our vestibules are a variety of religious periodicals and pamplets that are free for the taking. Among them are popular Catholic magazines such as U.S. Catholic, Catholic Answers, St. Augustine Catholic, and Word Among Us. They are filled with many historical and contemporary Catholic topics.

Educational Books and Audio CDs
Also available in our vestibules free of charge are inspirational books from the Dynamic Catholic. For those who don’t have time to read, there are also educational audio CDs from both Dynamic Catholic and Lighthouse Publishers.
A wide variety of Catholic reading materials is also available in our parish library located in the Parish Enrichment Center. These books may be read in the library or checked out and returned at your convenience.

St. Monica Video Club
The St. Monica Video Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the parish library. Videos about Catholicism, the Bible, the Saints, and many other topics are viewed and discussed. Refreshments are provided. All are welcome!

Small Christian Communities
St. Monica Catholic Church is a community of small Christian communities. These communities meet twice a month to gather to read and reflect on the Gospel. They pray together, share their faith, and try to find ways to live the Gospel through spiritual and corporal works of mercy among family and friends, in our community, and around the world. If you are interested in joining a Small Christian Community, please call Karen Lee at (386)972-0316.
